I wrote the title to this article not so much because I am going to provide an answer to the question but because I am wondering this myself. I know it to be true but I don’t know why. I am certainly open to suggestions (feel free to add them in the comments).
One reason why it is true is that I cannot imagine that in the beginning of the computer era or in the beginning of nanotechnology and genomics there was such a massive contribution in the divulgative aspects of this new approach by so many people coming from so many different sectors and areas of society.
Another is that I don’t think there has ever been a technology so relatively simple and yet so potentially disruptive (except, of course, fire and the wheel). Do you have anything to add to this? I will continue to do so in the upcoming days.
